Paul Fast and Gerald Epp were University of British Columbia structural engineering classmates who have collaborated with prominent West Coast architects since 1985. With their sister design-build manufacturing concern StructureCraft, they explore new frontiers of hybrid timber, steel, concrete and non-traditional materials to yield economical structural solutions that also enhance architectural expression.. These rising stars of Canada's engineering profession, they can be compared to the Piano Building Workshop or Arup Associates in weaving building materials together to optimize the inherent strengths and properties of each component by testing prototype systems in a workshop environment. The collaboration of Fast + Epp with StructureCraft results in innovative designs only achievable within the design-build paradigm.
