This collaboration with Bing Thom Architects used plywood industry waste 'peeler cores' as structural elements in the Atrium space frame. The glazed lobby facade is braced by large turned manufactured wood columns, anchored into bold custom steel castings.

Two challenges arose on this project's unusual applications of architectural tilt-up wall construction, which resulted in the largest spandrel panel in North America; and accommodating an undulating steel roof without pre-curving either steel joists or metal deck
2010 Olympic Winter Games Speed Skating Oval, Richmond
The 6 acre free span roof structure was crafted almost entirely of wood. Climate-change killed BC pine timber studs were formed into arched 'wave panels,' which are secured on top of hollow, hybrid steel-glue laminated wood arches, with building services woven through both.
